1. Why are there two models of the Flagg-Air 340HP septic tank aerator and how do I know which one is the right unit for me?
The Flagg-Air 340HP is a replacement unit for 2 major brands of tank aerators. The major difference between the two styles of the Flagg-Air 340HP tank aerator is the bracket size. To determine which Flagg-Air septic tank aerator you need, look on the control panel inside your home, or on the side of motor or on the vent cap at center of tank lid. If your control panel, side of motor or the cap in the center of your tank reads "Jet" you will need the 340HP-J, if your control panel, side of motor, or the cap in the center of your tank reads "Norweco" or "Singulair" you'll need the 340HP-N.

Another way to tell what Flagg-Air septic tank aerator is the right aerator for you is the size of the concrete opening inside the tank. The 340HP-J fits in the 10” concrete opening and the 340HP-N fits in the 12” concrete opening.

2. My breaker keeps blowing with my aerator unit, what is causing this?
The most common problem is your aerator has debris wrapped around the shaft putting a high amperage load on the motor. For this reason it is a must to have the FA340 aerator on a 4-amp breaker or the motor will burn up in high amps situations. When removing the debris from your aerator shaft (be sure all power is off to control panel before removal) be careful not to lay unit on shaft which will bend the shaft in the process. Also check the rubber vibrations dampers on the mounting brackets. Worn dampers mean the shaft is out of balance and putting undue wear on the motor bearings causing premature replacement of the unit.

3. Can I replace my rotary vane air compressor with a linear air pump?
Yes, replacing your current rotary vane air compressor with a linear air pump can be done and is commonly done with little difficulty. Some state, county and local codes require replacement with identical units, so we advise you check your regulations before making any replacements to your current septic air pump.
